Paris's most famous landmark. The first floor offers a series of exhibitions about the history and making of the Eiffel Tower, as well as a restaurant and shops. Experience a beautiful view of some of Paris's most impressive sights.

Arc

Arc de Triomphe

Place Charles de Gaulle, 75008 Paris

Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806, and is one of Paris's most famous landmarks. Climb to the top to obtain some of the best views of Paris. Visit the tomb of the 'Unknown Soldier', which has come to represent a major part of France's military history.

Notre-Dame de ParisNOtre dame

The first stone was laid in 1163, and a cathedral has stood on the site ever since. The setting of Victor Hugo's famous romantic novel, 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.'

Louvre

Musee du Louvre, 75058 Paris

Contains over 35,000 works of art including the Mona Lisa, the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Home to the Pyramid, which is a modern contrast to the traditional setting of the Louvre. Has many feature exhibitions, and provides thematic trails to ensure you get to see everything you want to.

La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre

The second highest point in Paris, being built on the hill of Montmartre (Mount of Martyrs). Visitors can climb up to the Dome, and see all across Paris. The Basilica has an exciting history, even though it was only completed in 1914. Before that Montmartre was visited by many saints, including Joan of Arc.

Musée d'Orsayorsay

62 rue de Lille, 75343 Paris

The Museum is set in the former train station Gare d'Orsay, which was also the setting for Orson Welles' adaptation of Kafka's 'The Trial'. Contains examples of the works of Degas, Cabanel, Van Gogh, and Monet, among many other distinguished artists from the years 1848-1914.

Place de la Concorde and Le Champs-Elyséesconcorde

The Place de la Concorde has a long and colourful history, and is known for being the place where Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI were guillotined. It is home to the Obelisk of Luxor, which was donated by the Viceroy of Egypt. It is also the starting point for the Champs-Elysées. The Champs-Elysées is one of Paris's most famous thoroughfares, and runs from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. It contains many shops and businesses, and also hosts many national events including the Bastille Day parade.

 

 

 

 

Centre Pompidoupomidu

Centre Pompidou, 75004 Paris

The centre is the epitome of 20th Century style with its 'inside out' architecture.
i.e. it was built with its escalators on the outside to maximise space, as well as the water pipes, electricity cables, and air ducts. The fourth and fifth floors are the National Museum of Modern Art, which contains examples of Matisse and Warhol, among others. The first three floors are home to the public library.

Opening Times:

Centre open 11:00-22:00.
Museum and exhibitions close at 21:00.
Library: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 12:00-22:00;
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 11:00-22:00.

 

Cité de la MusiqueMusica

This museum contains an insight into music and instrument making from the 17th century to the 19th century. Story is told with the use of story tellers, music, and workshops.
